Producer

These individuals and companies are also referred as agents.  Producers have the authority to sell life insurance policies.  They work for commissions.  In many states agents can act as life settlement brokers are legally responsible to represent the interest of the seller.

Brokers

These individuals and companies assist policy sellers in negotiating the sale of the policy.  They work for commissions.  In many states brokers are legally responsible to represent the interest of the seller.  For a legal definition of Broker click here.

Providers

These individuals and companies buy policies.   Some will negotiate directly with the seller.  Others insist that the seller use a broker.  For a legal definition of Provider click here.

Industry Services

These are members who serve in the industry but do not deal directly with the public.  With the exception of the state of Texas and Florida, none of these businesses require Life Settlement licensing.

Financing Entity

A financing or funding entity is specifically defined by certain states as a company or entity created for the purpose of providing the funds necessary to finance a settlement.  These funds can come from individual purchasers or from institutional investors.  Financing or funding entities normally do not have direct contact with the sellers of life insurance policies and, as such, generally, do not have to be licensed by the various state insurance departments, but they may have to follow other state laws.
